Research Description: My research investigates the teaching and learning of music. My current projects explore how people learn to match pitch in their singing and how musicians improve their dictation skills.

Access to Strings Education
Project Description: We're interested in how students in Mississippi are involved in orchestras and string programs. We plan to write a full profile of strings education in the state.
Desired Student Qualifications: Any
Project Timeline: 2016-current
Duties of Student Researcher: Help contact strings teachers and gather date from publicly available sources.

The effect of concurrent feedback on singing pitch accuracy
Project Description: We are testing the growth of participants' singing pitch matching skills through the use of a computer game.
Desired Student Qualifications: Dependable, follows instructions well, available Wednesdays 1:45-4:00 PM and Thursdays 11:45-1:00 PM. The ability to trouble shoot computer problems on a non-Mac computer is a plus, but not required.
Project Timeline: Ongoing
Duties of Student Researcher: Student researchers will direct participants (undergraduate students) to the testing rooms and answer any questions regarding the procedures. They will collect data and assist with the analysis.
