Research Description: Dr. Marting's research interests include Spanish American and Brazilian literature, film and culture (especially by women writers and directors or about women's lives), feminist literary criticism, and European-Latin American cultural relations. She has guided Honors theses comparing Faulkner to Garcia Marquez and on the Argentine writer Gorodischer.

Project Description: This feminist writer has short stories that reflect the social reality of Argentina. I am working on a book on her, and would welcome the chance to read intensely her later works with a student interested in surrealism, feminist literary criticism, and Argentine history.
Desired Student Qualifications: Advanced knowledge of Spanish, interest in literary interpretation of feminist texts
