Research Description: My research examines how affect (feelings/emotions) interact with ways of thinking (cognitive processing styles) to influence a variety of judgments, decisions, and behaviors. Some of my work has focused on how emotion and information processing styles (big picture vs. detailed thinking) influence judgments about the self, political candidates, people from stigmatized groups and other outgroups, and moral transgressions. I also have a line of research that examines how these two processes influence attention to visual stimuli (both neutral and emotional stimuli).
