Key Words:

Research Description: Eunika Rogers was born and raised in Trnava, Slovakia and moved to Ontario, Canada when she was 13. She moved to the United States to attend college at Delta State University of Mississippi, where she received tennis and cross country running scholarships. After earning her BFA in Graphic Design and Ceramics she pursued her MFA in Studio Arts with emphasis in Ceramics from University of Memphis. After graduating, Eunika worked as a commercial graphic designer for seven years. In 2006 she became an Art Instructor at Northwest Mississippi Community College where she taught Design and Graphic Design classes for five years. Eunika is also a practicing artist who specializes in using clay as a painting medium. She digs her own clay; mainly red clay in Mississippi but has added other clays and pigments to her palette. As a hiker and ultra distance trail runner she has the means to find secluded areas with clay deposits. She runs with a small backpack and along with her running/hiking gear she carries a small shovel, ziplock bags and her camera to record her experience. She has a collection of umber, sienna and ochre pigmented clays from across America's countryside. These clays provide the staining pigments that make up her art imagery. Her clay paintings have been exhibited nationally and internationally.
