Available Research Projects:
Development of Catalysts for the Conversion of CO2 to Fuels
Project Description: The project will involve the synthesis and testing of organometallic compounds for the reduction of CO2 to an important intermediate to synthetic gasoline, CO. Sunlight will be used to power this reaction.
Desired Student Qualifications: Motivated to learn and interested in science. Only freshman chemistry courses are required.
Project Timeline: Until society starts using CO2 and sunlight to make gasoline.
Duties of Student Researcher: Student researcher will be involved in synthesizing, characterizing and testing the performance of catalysts for CO2 reduction both photochemically and electrochemically.
