Research Description: Eating Good and Moving Like We Should is a school and community based nutrition and physical activity education program designed to address factors affecting overweight and obesity in the Mississippi Delta by helping children make healthier nutrition and physical activity choices. Eating Good provides training for teachers on how to teach nutrition and physical activity across the wider curriculum, helps to start school gardens, provides cooking classes for children, and equips fitness rooms for teachers. I n its fourth successful year, the program, run by the University of Mississippi, Department of Nutrition and Hospitality Management and funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, is building a sustainable partnership with schools in the Mississippi Delta to stop obesity one child at a time.
