Research Description: Multicultural, international, global psychology, environmental psychology (attitudes and action), positive youth development and civic engagement, cross-cultural adjustment and social integration, refugee and ethnic minority mental health, across cultural contexts. Dr. Johnson collaborates with the Jane Goodall Institute "Roots&Shoots" global, environmental and humanitarian program for youth and focuses in East Africa. She has written several book chapters and articles on the role of culture in mental health treatment and in youth development. She also partners with Wildlife Clubs of Uganda, Uganda Youth development Link and other centers for street connected youth. Dr. Johnson teaches multicultural psychology, human sexuality, and environmental psychology, as well as a yearly study abroad course on Ecology and Youth Development in Tanzania and workshops on cross-cultural adjustment for the Croft. Dr. Johnson has received two US Fulbright Foundation awards and two National Geographic Conservation Trust grants for work with east African youth. Dr. Johnson served on the American Psychological Association�s (APA) Committee on International Relations in Psychology and is an International Division member and a liaison to Uganda, Tanzania and China. Dr. Johnson was an international exchange student in Kenya (88-89), and U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Papua New Guinea (93-95).
