Research Description: Margaret Mih Tillman is a Visiting Assistant Professor in modern Chinese history. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from UC Berkeley in 2003 and then spent two years in Beijing before returning to Berkeley for graduate study. She graduated in May 2013 with a thesis on the politicization of preschool education in twentieth-century China, and she is currently expanding her interest in educational history and Chinese diaspora. At the Croft Institute, Tillman will mentor senior theses. This fall, she is offering a seminar "Political Contestations and Constructed Representations of Childhood in Twentieth-century East Asia."
