Research Description: Mark Frezzo is Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Mississippi. His research and teaching interests fall into the areas of human rights, social movements, development, and globalization. He has published a number of articles and book chapters in these areas. His recently published book, The Sociology of Human Rights (Polity, 2015), establishes a theoretical and conceptual framework for the sociological analysis of debates on and struggles over human rights. He has served as co-editor of Societies Without Borders: Human Rights and the Social Sciences and Chair of the Human Rights Section of the American Sociological Association. He currently serves as Past Vice President of the scholarly NGO Sociologists Without Borders and Secretary-Treasurer of the Thematic Group on Human Rights and Global Justice of the International Sociological Association.
