Research Description: Mohammed Bashir Salau specializes in African and African diaspora history. He teaches the African history survey "Introduction to African History," He also teaches courses on Islam in Africa, and the history of slavery in Africa. Salau has authored two books on slavery and Islam. Currently, he is doing research on three themes: nineteenth century African born Muslim slave narratives, the Boko Haram insurgency in contemporary Nigeria, and convict labor in colonial Nigeria.
