Research Description: Hello! You are definitely invited to the Digital Neuroscience Laboratory.. We play with human brain data. We have published papers of the numerous topics including neuroimaging, neuropsychopharmacology, neurodevelopment, psychiatric and/or neurological disorders, dopaminergic modulation, computational linguistics, generative linguistics, auditory hallucination, diet&stress, and genetics.

Ask not what you can do for your lab. Ask what your lab can do for you.

My goal is to help your future as it is my honor to mentor any of you. One of the best outcomes is to let the student publish the study. Below are examples of publication from a honor's thesis study.

+ Disrupted Olfactory Integration in Schizophrenia: Functional Connectivity Study
+ Pituitary Gland Functional Connectivity and BMI
+The human raphe-hippocampal tract and affective sensitivity: a probabilistic tractography study

If you want to do this (YES YOU CAN), please email me. The door is open anytime for you!

In more formal words...

The human brain exhibits remarkable diversities. These diversities recognized as physiological and/or behavioral differences across people. In Digital Neuroscience Laboratory, we seek to identify the brain structures that are responsible for any named cognitive/perceptual/behavioral diversity.

Available Research Projects:

brain MRI analysis

Project Description: If you have thought that the brain is interesting, this would be the right place. Dr. Tossi likes to know what is interesting to you and will tailor his analysis for you. You will need to think and write about the analysis. The goal is to let a student to PUBLISH. No prior experience in MRI or brain is required. The data includes autism, ADHD, Alzheimer's, Schizophrenia, PTSD, traumatic brain damage, and healthy population.

Desired Student Qualifications: General interest to the brain.

Project Timeline: Two semesters.

Duties of Student Researcher: A student can decide the topic by her/his own. The data analysis will be at least partly provided by the instructor.

LEGO Brain

Project Description: Building a human brain with LEGO blocks. This project is more serious than it sounds.

Desired Student Qualifications: more than 5 years of LEGO.

Project Timeline: unknown

Duties of Student Researcher: To be discussed.

Last Updated on 2022-05-06 10:18:05

Meta-analysis

Project Description: This will be a literature search project. No experiment involved, but this will produce a scientific writing. There will be a good chance for publishing the outcome. The topics are not limited to communication sciences and disorders topic. A student can chose any scientific or medical topic that can produce a meta-analysis.

Desired Student Qualifications: statistics

Project Timeline: 12 months

Duties of Student Researcher: Literature search and writing a review.

Music Cognition

Project Description: Music perception is an area of cognition that is understudied. Students will have various opportunities to explore neuroscience or cognitive science approaches to music cognition (or also production).

Desired Student Qualifications: Acoustics and harmonics.

Project Timeline: 2-3 semesters.

Duties of Student Researcher: To be discussed.

Neuroscience Meta-analysis

Project Description: This will be a good opportunity for students to PUBLISH a paper. I will help a student to do a meta-analysis of any neuroscience topic. Suitable for future medical students, as well as for all others.

Desired Student Qualifications: MOTIVATED

Project Timeline: two semesters.

Duties of Student Researcher: Collect publications of a topic (TBA). Make a table. Stats will be helped by the instructor.

Virtual Brain

Project Description: This is a computational neuroscience project where a student programs (a very focused part/function of) the brain.

Desired Student Qualifications: Fluency in a programming language.

Project Timeline: One or Two semesters.

Duties of Student Researcher: Build one program that runs. Simulation itself does not need to be successful, as far as the program runs to follow the proposed algorithm.
